On Tue. 08 of December I will continue the music technology seminars taking place at villa Kunduroy in Chania. Lessons will be divided into two parts. The first semester explores music production based on Logic Audio, while on the second semester we will focus on sound synthesis, using PD.

Rediscovering one of my first Shockwave applications, I found space traffic. Space traffic plays random environmental sounds in order to simulate different acoustic spaces. While searching for ways to facilitate my sleeping problems - due to the large amount of environmental noise in my neighborhood - I found several articles related to how white noise can be used as a sleeping aid solution (Masking). Therefore, I quickly made a Shockwave application to generate noise to help with my sleep. Did it work? Download and find out yourself..

Tomorrow, Sunday 07 of December, I will perform at the Biological Park in Chania, music based on a self-made instrument made by George Gelesis (SoGroup). The string instrument is based on a scale, founded by G.Gelesis, a scale based on one of Kepler's laws of elliptical planetary motion. The instrument is played by two persons with the rhythm dictated by each person's breaths.

On the 19th of November I will presenting an introduction to Acoustic Ecology at the 1st Ecology Festival taking place in Chania, Crete. On the same day I will also present the 'Ecoturn', a 20 minutes soundscape composition piece specially commissioned for the festival. Program starts at : 18:00 hours. After numerous friendly requests I've decided to upload one of my early music works, White Lines [under the alias Inflating Silence]. It has been mainly made by using digital signal processing on field audio recordings. I was trying to build a music machine in which I could find the ultimate point where the music stops, melt, loose it's actual meaning and reach close to the end of time - a straight white line is how I visualized this point. Vocoders helped me reach closer to this goal, by analyzing the pre-recorded musical events emotionally rather than simple 'audio units'. There two ways to playback this music - no middle way. Either you listen to it on your headphones peacefully or better very loud in your home stereo.

I have changed the 'visuals' section in sonicspace.org by replacing the old plain photo presentation with a more sophisticated javascript image gallery. I have also replaced most of the previous pictures with fresh, higher resolution images, plus I've added some more. So, anyone whois interested to see what I have seen through by eyes...check this upgraded new section.

My second solo work, band reject, would be the next release for the California based netlabel, lunar flower. Lunar Flower is a 'netlabel whose goal is to provide its audience with modern experimental music which seeks out new frontiers while abiding by the traditional notion that music should be both beautiful and filled with inspiration' - from Lunar's Flower website.

The Spanish based 'disaster netlabel out of copyright', mastertoaster, has selected one of my most difficult music project to release on their website. This work is 'Binary of the incomplete reality' which was hidden for sometime deep inside my hard-drive. Is coming out sometime within April, so be one of the first to check it out.

"...an undercover head-buzz of down tempo minimal techno, injected with a mixed shot of IDM and Dub. True, the sound here is definitely unique. The grooves beats are large and sounds like each note has been placed carefully on the grid rather than simply automated by a step sequencer, the bass lines (were available) are simple but rock solid, while TV-style chopped-up vocal lines add a magic touch for this charming, rhythmic, soundscape...Transitions one to three sound like they belong to the same league with small tempo variations. The groove is soulful soft and at the same time confident and strong. The spoken samples loose their actual meaning and becomes a rather interesting sound toy in the composition, while the percussion samples drop deep into the sonicspace. All three first tracks are blending comfortably with each other, somehow like they complete one another. The last track, OA535 is probably my favorite and follows a slightly different music direction. The groove remains strong and after two difficult minutes of introduction, a progressive blast of Reaktor-style resonated sequencers and overdriven electric guitars promising music peaks and dips of endless quality... ."

Villa Koyndoyroy - By the end of November I will continue to teach in the music technology seminars taking place for one more year at Villa Koyndoyroy in Chania and under the umbrella of the municipality of Chania.

The seminars will cover the basic principles of digital audio and sound and we will be using Logic Audio together with various other audio software as our 'playing' platform. The final part of the course will cover the basic principles of sound synthesis using CPS or a similar software.

The seminars will take place either once or twice a week (two or four hours courses) and they will consist strictly of groups with up to six people. For each student there will be a dedicated PC connected with an M-Audio Oxygen MIDI controller.
